With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 5A region 3, the Volunteers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. The Volunteers should contend for a playoff spot in Region 4 this season. The Volunteers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Munford on Friday, August 19 at Munford Stadium. Last year the Munford Lions finished with an overall record of 10-4 and in second place in Class 4A region 3. The Lions lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 4A playoffs to Leeds by a score of 48-20. Central Clay County and Munford have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Volunteers have a 8-0-0 record against the Lions.
